Why Does Project Solar Use Black-On-Black Panels?

Project Solar uses all-black monocrystalline panels rather than polycrystalline panels for our systems. Monocrystalline panels are usually darker in hue and produce power more efficiently.

Solar panels come in a variety of colors, but most hues range from blue to black.

Black panels are almost always monocrystalline, and blue panels are typically polycrystalline. To learn more about monocrystalline and polycrystalline panels, check out our blog post: "Monocrystalline vs. Polycrystalline Panels".

At Project Solar, we source only Tier 1, black-on-black, monocrystalline panels.

While this does provide a sleek look, aesthetics isn't the only reason for our panel choice. Compared to their blue polycrystalline counterparts, monocrystalline panels are more efficient and resilient.

Monocrystalline panels perform better in low light, cloudy weather, and hot conditions. They also degrade at a slower rate.
